Outdoor Cooking with Reynolds Wrap

Camping season is upon us, so I thought I'd share a great campfire cooklet booklet from Reynolds Wrap circa 1950. It's full of tips on building the right kind of fire, camp menus like Fisherman's Delight and New England Chicken Dinner, and some retro tips and tricks for all of the scouts out there (I would disregard the recommendation to bury your tin foil as you go...). I'm especially impressed with the bread and biscuit setup. By creating a sort of "tin foil sail" (there are photos to illustrate this) next to the fire, it seems almost easy to make fresh "biscuits in a jiffy." You can also wrap hotdogs in this same dough for "franks in a blanket."

On the sweets front, there are recipes for baked sweet potatoes, bananas and apples that I've actually tried before. I recommend adding marshmallows and chocolate chips to the "Banana-Yum" recipe.

Apologies on the quality; this is a very old and fragile piece from the archives.
